Give employees and retirees a Medicare option that pays them back.
MSA plans deposit real money into a bank account your Medicare-eligible employees and retirees control — while your business pays a fraction of what a commercial plan costs.
Built to lower cost and simplify the switch to Medicare
An MSA shifts spending risk, rewards healthy years, and gets your team off commercial premiums without a mountain of paperwork.
Lower cost, shifted risk
Trade fixed commercial premiums for a plan that shifts spending risk to the deductible year, funded by real deposits.
Deposits, not premiums
Most of the plan cost lands directly in each member's own MSA bank account — theirs to spend, save, or invest.
Enroll any time of year
No lock-out windows. Start delivering coverage the moment an employee or retiree ages into Medicare eligibility.
Low-effort admin
Simple enrollment, simple renewals, no certification hoops for your HR or benefits team to jump through.
Sized for however your business is structured
The same MSA mechanics, tuned three ways — from a single self-employed owner to a workforce of any size.
Self-Employed
- The most HSA-like design available in Medicare Advantage
- Most of the group fee flows straight into the member's MSA account
- Choose a monthly or annual fee and deposit schedule
- Spouses can also be covered
Groups with 2–19 employees
- Meaningful savings measured against commercial group plan costs
- Shifts risk and lowers premiums across the whole team
- An easy, supported transition into Medicare with deposits sized for extra costs
Groups of any size
- Two options for eligible employees to weigh, offered at no cost to them
- Added options plus education can lower costs when the non-commercial plan is chosen
- Identical plan designs in every state, plus D.C.
Full-year amounts shown unless stated otherwise. Deposit and deductible amounts are prorated for partial-year enrollment. Plan figures are illustrative and subject to change by plan year.
How a Medicare Savings Account actually works
Five steps, once a year, on repeat.
We deposit funds
Money lands directly in the member's own MSA bank account.
They decide
Spend it on care, save it, or invest it — it's their account.
They pay first
Members cover 100% of Medicare-approved care below the deductible.
The plan pays next
Once the deductible's met, Medicare-approved care is covered at 100%.
They keep the rest
Unspent deposit money rolls over for the member to use next year.
Before you offer it to your team
Who's actually eligible for an MSA plan?+
Employees, retirees, and business owners who are enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B and live in a state where the plan is offered. Spouses can typically be covered under the self-employed design as well.
Does my business need to be a certain size?+
No — designs exist for solo self-employed owners, small groups of 2–19 employees, and groups of any size, so the mechanics scale to your headcount.
Can we offer this to retirees, not just active employees?+
Yes. MSA plans are available to retirees as well as active employees — a common option for businesses maintaining a retiree health benefit or transitioning a departing employee onto Medicare.
What happens to unused deposit money?+
It stays in the member's account and rolls forward for future medical expenses or other use — it isn't forfeited at year-end.
Is enrollment locked to a specific window?+
No. Enrollment runs year-round, so coverage can start as soon as an employee or retiree becomes Medicare-eligible.
Do plan figures shown here apply everywhere?+
Figures on this page are illustrative examples of typical MSA plan designs. Actual fees, deposits, and deductibles vary by carrier, state, and plan year — we'll walk through the exact numbers for your business.
We'll size a plan around your team.
